Move Over Pink, Lilac Has Blossomed

June 7, 2018 By The Mav Team

Remember last year’s “Millennial Pink” trend? Well there’s a new color palette in town now: “Millennial Lilac.” And, according to paint experts, this soft shade of purple is the new “it” color.

And the good news is, it’s not just for millennials! Any purple enthusiast can put the tone to great use in the home, whether you’re looking for a lot of lilac or just a little.

Some of the colors that fall into the Millennial Lilac category are PPG Paints Violet Verbena, chosen as the 2017 Color of the Year for its versatility and refinement, says the brand, and Glidden Paint’s Lilac Lattice, ideal for adding a touch of sophistication to any room. PPG Paints shades, such as Purple Essence, Grape Arbor and Pale Plum, or Glidden Paint’s Quaint Purple Rose, are other great options for testing out the lilac trend.

According to Dee Schlotter and Misty Yeomans, color experts for the PPG Paints and Glidden Paint brands, the lavender trend has been booming in the home décor space for over a year, and Millennial Lilac has captured the new era of consumer mindsets by defying convention and blurring traditional boundaries of gender, age, work and leisure.

There are several ways to incorporate the Millennial Lilac trend into your interior design. For example, while purple shades can be a great choice for an entire room, if you’re not ready to commit on that level, consider using the color for an accent wall or a hallway instead. And if you’re not ready to take the plunge with paint, look for lilac shades in everything from home furnishings, pillows and throws, glassware and small appliances. There’s a way to get your fill of the lilac trend in however large a dose you’d like.
