Designing Your Terrace: 4 Focus Points

June 21, 2019 By The Mav Team

Terraces can be great spaces to relax, eat and socialize, but often they go underutilized. Get more square footage out of your house or apartment by creating a fully functional terrace. Consider the following suggestions from WatermarkPointe.

Comfy and cozy couches. For shaded serenity that you can access any time, don’t hesitate to add comfortable couches to your private outdoor terrace. Your terrace couch will be the best seat in the house. Spend each evening curled up with a cozy blanket and your favorite cocktail.

All-around ambient lighting. Globe string lights are all the rage right now in outdoor decor, and they can add that perfect hint of a romantic twinkle to your terrace! For lighting touches that keep maritime in mind, consider hanging hurricane lanterns and battery operated candles. Outdoor chandeliers can add an extra touch of elegance to your terrace, so keep an eye out for chandeliers that incorporate nautical elements like rope, anchors, or sea-colored glass.

An outdoor dining room. There is nothing better than enjoying a delicious meal overlooking the water while the sun sets on the horizon. By adding colorful outdoor seating, a grill, and a dining table to their terraces, WatermarkPointe’s residents can delight in waterfront dining daily. Now that’s resort-inspired living!

Summer plants and potting. Take your terrace from wonderland to all-out oasis by adding summer plants or a small vertical garden. Plants that do well in light shade will thrive on your gracious terrace, including Heucheras, Ferns, and Begonias, or for a unique pop of color try adding a Gazania. Don’t limit yourself to traditional plant holders- create a space that is truly unique by incorporating unusual plant holders like boats, old lanterns, or driftwood for air plants.
